Scottish singer-songwriter, Sean C Kennedy has worked with Andy Taylor (Duran Duran) and Nik Kershaw, and has been voted ‘Best Acoustic Act’ at the 2015 Scottish Alternative Music Awards. His debut album ’77’ has received a lot of attention and reflects influences such as Eagles, Bryan Adams and Steely Dan.
On the album, the time Sean has spent in Nashville is very apparent, although there are surprises such as a visit to ‘ The Blues” with “Lesson Learned”!
The single,”The Girl On Christopher Street” however, falls more into the”Ed Sheeran/ Jamie Lawson” camp, (although the Nashville touch is still apparent) and is to be released on 11th March 2016, accompanied with a video filmed in New York. It tells the story of a chance encounter with a girl at The Path Cafe on Christopher Street in New York, where he was playing a gig. This took place before a charity marathon, hence the 26 miles referred to in the song!
The song is a testament to classic storytelling , and beautifully demonstrates Sean’s voice. Listening to this track demonstrates what a great songwriter Sean is and why he needs to be heard!
